Karla B. Palos Castellanos

Graduate Student Researcher

Karla is a second-year Master of Public Policy student at UC Berkeley’s Goldman School. At the Possibility Lab, she supports workforce and housing policy research, focusing on how labor market dynamics influence housing production in California.

Previously, Karla was a Research Associate at the California Policy Lab, where she led data analysis across higher education, housing, the social safety net, and criminal justice, and Implemented privacy-preserving linkages for cross-sector research.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Political Economy from UC Berkeley. Her interests include policy evaluation, public benefits access, and criminal justice reform, with a commitment to equity and community-centered research. Outside of work, she enjoys films, Latin American literature, especially El Boom Latinoamericano authors, and exploring ethics in data science.
