John Lam is a first-generation Chinese-American from Sacramento, California. As a formerly incarcerated individual, he is committed to leveraging technology and policy for criminal justice reform, particularly in housing, employment, education, and healthcare. John actively volunteers with nonprofits across California to support the reintegration of formerly incarcerated individuals. He recently completed his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at UC Berkeley and was selected as one of three graduating students for the John Gardner Fellowship, with his placement at the Possibility Lab. He is also building his nonprofit, Cre8innovations, which provides housing for formerly incarcerated students in higher education. He will begin his Master’s in Public Policy at Cal in 2025.
